That’s from an article in Techradar:

A new survey has revealed that a third of Brits now own an ebook reader, a stat that has risen by 21 per cent compared to 2011.

By comparison, reading printed books as an activity has fallen by 4 per cent according to the digital entertainment survey commissioned by Wiggin, although it still rides high as an activity engaged in by 43 per cent of the survey’s respondents.

Add to that the fact that 38 per cent of people still have no plans to start reading ebooks, and print might not be quite as dead in the water as people seem to think.

More in the article, including the fact that 31 percent of ebook owners in the survey admitted that they downloaded pirated copys of books.

  1. According to http://www.thefuturesagency.com this survey is:
“a detailed survey of 2,500 digitally-active consumers commissioned by Wiggin”

So we are talking about a third of “digitally active consumers” owning an eReader … IF we believe the survey without seeing the questions or the stats.

This is a LONG LONG way from a third of British people, or even a third of British adults.

Demonstrating yet again the folly of believing the kind of nonsense these surveys produce.
