Via New Scientist:

A new site run by veteran science writers aims to create a community around electronic books – and not the kind that are simply “digital clones” of the stuff you can still pick up in bookshops. New Scientist caught up with founder and prolific science writer Carl Zimmer to learn more about the Download the Universe project, and how he sees ebooks changing the way we read.

One Exchange from the Interview:

Q. So your rule is to review books that are available only in electronic version?

A. That is correct. Our rule right now is no digital clones, because those ebooks are already being written about in regular book reviews. We think we can have the most effect by taking a look at ebooks that no one is paying much attention to and they should be. We want to take as wide as scope as we can.
