“Copyright and patents are too important to be left to the lawyers.” – News release from the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce. The society wants governments to “adopt new public interest benchmarks for intellectual property,” and that’s not a bad idea. I doubt that the Sonny Bono Copyright Term Extension Act would survive that criterion.
