I am a daily commuter, and as such I always my e-reader with me so that I have something to read on my daily train rides. However, the train is far from a quiet library, and as a result I have gotten in the habit of listening to music while simultaneously reading. However, it’s no easy task finding the right music to complement your book let alone amplify it. That’s where Booktrack comes in.

In short, Booktrack is a digital publishing tool that enables bloggers, artists and writers to self-publish their work with corresponding soundtracks. Writers can choose from a catalogue of 20,000 licensed audio files.

As long as writers own the rights to the content (or it’s public content), they can add a soundtrack to any digital text or e-book.

All these works can be found on the Google Chrome Webstore, and as of now, more than 10,000 people have contributed to Booktrack since it launched last week.

Booktrack is simple to use: copy and paste the text into the platform, highlight the section you want to add audio to, then search for whatever sounds you want to add.

The CEO of Booktrack told Mashable: “The target user is anyone with a story to tell. Both authors and audio enthusiasts and professionals who can not only explore a new creative outlet, but also reach new fans and promote their work in a new medium.”

The platform is currently free, and there’s a mobile version on the way.

What do you think? Will this change the reading experience?
