The best article on modifiyintg your Kindle Fire that I’ve seen is the one just published in Liliputing. In it they tell you how to change the Amazon launcher and use a more “standard” Android one – Go Laucher EX, for example. I just did this and now my Fire looks almost the same as my Droid Bionic. Took one minute and it’s really neat. Take a look at the article:

If you’d rather have a different launcher that looks more like the Android interface seen on most phones and tablets, you can do that. You don’t even need to venture outside the Amazon Appstore.
All you need to do is download a free app called GO Launcher EX.
Once it’s installed you can tap the home button on your Kindle Fire and choose between the Amazon launcher and the GO Launcher. You can also choose a default action so that you’ll never have to see the default launcher again if you don’t want to.
Gee, I far prefer the Kindle version to the standard Android screen of tiny little apps. Heck, I might even prefer it to my iPad’s app launcher screen! But each to his/her own, I suppose…
Hmm.. I’m not sure I’d want to do that. I think the launcher is one of the most attractive feature of the Fire.
How can I change between books?
I downloaded this app, and installed in my Kindle Fire. Now, for some reasons that I don’t know, I cannot use my Kindle Fire anymore. It just hangs in the black screen with Kindle Fire icon, it will never start… Also cannot connect it to my computer… I don’t know where I did something wrong or the app had a bug, but I am really disappointed right now 🙁
I tried this with go launcher ex and it didn’t work. I downloaded it and then I went to home and it didn’t ask me which launcher I wanted to use. If you have solution please email me at ynktexas@gmail.com. Thanx
