Amazon’s gotten in a little trouble in China, it seems. The Next Web reports that China’s National Copyright Administration found 36 third party retailers and 20 catalogs featuring counterfeit books, and has demanded Amazon tighten things up.

This certainly wouldn’t be the first time Amazon has been caught selling books it shouldn’t. Allowing self-publishing and third-party sales in the western world has led to things like Lori Jareo’s self-published Star Wars fanfic, or two different manuals for pedophiles.

Still, the irony of China getting onto Amazon for counterfeit books amuses me, given that this is the country responsible for Harry Potter and the Leopard Walk-Up-To Dragon.
