images.jpgPublishers Lunch (subscription) has a story today on distribution to the new iBooks store. Libre Digital, Ingram, Smashwords, Lulu, InGrooves, CD Baby and BiblioCore are the ways into the store. Each company has a different fee structure. Some take a percentage of revenues, some a flat fee, some an annual fee with a signup fee, etc. What is unknown, says the article, is whether Apple will direct vendor relationships with more than a small circle of publishers.

They article goes on to say that the aggregators don’t seem to have most favored nation clauses imposed by Apple, and Apple has insisted on its maximum pricing tiers but has not restricted publishers beyond that. The aggregator’s contracts don’t include requirements that will impose Apple pricing across all of their ebook customers.
