Nook HDI know, I know, there are oodles of tablets cooler than Barnes & Noble’s Nooks around, starting with the uber-cheap Nexus 7 and the sleek iPad Mini. But with B&N holding constant “yard sales”, I dare you to find a slate with more bang for the buck.

Leading to Father’s Day for instance, the Nook HD goes for just $129 both in physical stores and online, while the Nook HD+ is $149. That gives you roughly five days (Father’s Day is this Sunday, remember) to decide between the two. Our advice? Get them both. One for you, one for your dad, or both as future gifts, or whatever. Just buy them while you can!

The Nook HD normally sells for 200 bucks and, while it’s not exactly a Nexus 7 killer in most aspects, it does sport a very crisp display (1,440 x 900 pixels resolution). It’s also portable and light, weighing in at 315 grams, and it comes with a decent amount of heat under the hood, courtesy of a dual-core 1.3 GHz processor and 1 GB of RAM.

As for the Nook HD+, that fellow usually goes for $269, meaning it’s currently a whopping 44% off. The biggest selling point is again the display–8.9-inch with 1,920 x 1,280 pix res–but you can’t say the dual-core 1.5 GHz CPU, 1 gig of RAM, 16 GB of storage or microSD support sound too bad themselves.
