Finally! Kindle for Android just added one of my two “must have” features: time until end of chapter. No, it’s not earth shattering, and it won’t make buying books any cheaper or easier, but it does make them a bit easier to read.

This feature has been on the Kindle Fire, Paperwhite and Touch for some time, and it’s one of my favorite features. I hate stopping a reading session and then finding if I’d just read a couple of more pages, I’d have reached the end of the chapter.

The feature is still Android only, but I expect to see an iOS update soon to add it.

Now if they would just add Collections to the apps. It’s the single most requested feature I know of.

  1. I agree that this is great, but a few thoughts:

*I’ve noticed that with some books it gives the time until the end of the book, not the chapter, which I find annoying since rarely do I plan to sit down and read an entire book in one setting.
*Having just looked at an iBook recently, I’m still baffled as to why Kindle can’t do something like list pages left in a chapter. The time thing is nice, but I’d actually just rather know how many pages are left. The location thing is useless and needs to go.
*Finally, whether it’s an iBook or a Nook book, why in the world can’t the Kindle learn from them and make it easier to click on the chapters and navigate around. This should be so much easier. The “Go To” needs to be replaced by the simple Table of Contents icon as found in those formats, thus allowing for easier navigation.
