This was actually news last week, but for a while the announcement post disappeared from Kobo’s site so I wasn’t sure what was going on. Now the post is back up and Kobo has issued an (informal?) press release announcing that the kiosk is operational and open seven days a week. If you live in the NYC area and plan on passing through Grand Central Terminal, you can stop by and check out the demo units.
This is the first retail kiosk operated by Kobo in the U.S., and to promote it the company is giving away $10 Kobo store gift codes with each Kobo device purchase through this Friday, July 15th.

The Curious Can Get Answers In-Person:
Kobo’s kiosk, located in the Graybar Passage (towards Lexington Avenue) is the first deployed by the company in the United States and will be staffed by eReader experts that offer a tour of Kobo devices and support for Kobo users.
- Visitors can see Kobo’s family of eReaders as well as Kobo’s free apps for most major notebooks, netbooks, smartphones and tablets including iOS, Android, RIM, PC and Mac. Users can easily read across devices and user library, highlights, bookmarks and more are synched across all of their reading devices, without skipping a beat
- Kiosk employees can give customers a walk-through of how they can easily shop-on-the-go for eBooks
eGift Cards During Grand Opening Week:
From today to Friday (July 12 to 15) consumers that buy a Kobo eReader on-site will receive a $10 Kobo eGift card via email following their purchase to allow them to get a great summer read.
