NBC has a brief video on checking out e-books from the public library. Though it suffers a bit from oversimplification (I snorted at the explanation that e-books expire at the end of their checkout period because of “the EPUB software”), it does present an interesting layman’s look at what checking out e-books is like. And it provides the interesting statistic that an estimated 66% of libraries now offer e-books to their patrons.

On a related note, the “Not So Distant Future” blog—a tech blog by a high school librarian—looks at integrating iPads educationally into school libraries, though it actually talks about almost everything except e-books (presumably because e-book apps go without saying for the iPad, which is an interesting observation in and of itself).
