Let’s hope that ePub, not just the proprietary BBeB, will soon be an option in time, ideally without traditional DRM. Here’s a chance for Borders and Sony to help people own books for real—while also beating Amazon to the punch. Remember, Amazon did an MP3 store sans DRM.

Question: What are the pros and cons of buying e-books—the content—via Borders-Sony as opposed to the Sony e-book store?

  1. To answer your Q…I’m not seeing a difference in the Borders/Sony store – just a name change on the Sony store site. I downloaded the new “borders/sony store” and I got my same Sony store site with “Borders” on it. I was initially excited to think that purchasing may be different now, but I don’t think that is the case (you can’t purchase books in advance like you can if you go to the store or like B&N).
