From the press release:

With the NOOK Kids for iPad application v1.1, families will enjoy new features and improvements to the recently launched, best-in-class digital children’s reading experience app. In addition to offering the best-in-class digital picture book experience, NOOK Kids for iPad app now allows young readers to explore more than 12,000 children’s chapter books (with the ability to change the text appearance, take notes and look up words). The new app also features enhanced zoom and other performance improvements. NOOK Kids for iPad provides a safe, kid-friendly destination to enjoy children’s chapter books along with nearly 300 digital picture books – the world’s largest catalog of interactive books for kids. With NOOK kids for iPad, kids can create their own personalized NOOK Book collections, and families can bring their entire bookshelves with them wherever they go. …

Barnes & Noble is also offering a minor update to its free NOOK for iPhone app (v2.1.1) with a simpler way to register a B&N account from the device, an orientation lock, and other improvements as requested by customers. The app gives iPhone customers access to Barnes & Noble’s expansive NOOK Bookstore, with more than two million digital titles, with the vast majority priced at $9.99 or less, and access to read their personal Barnes & Noble digital libraries.
