  1. There are many eBook stores out there. Surprising a closing from such a large name brand yet like so many new ventures sometimes the little guy can win.

  2. I had purchased from it, but only my Tolkien fix…

It’s been “temporarily” closed to new sales since Agency Pricing went into effect in April. I guess this just makes it official. It’d be nice if they sent an email to account holders letting them know they have until Dec. 19th to re-download their books if need be (at least I haven’t gotten one, although all I have are some freebies they did a couple years ago). I suppose it’s better than PaperBack Digital who was there one day and closed the next.

Another example of the problems with DRM. Even if you download a backup copy now you may or may not be unable to use it later on a new device/computer unless you go ahead and un-infect it.

  4. I did get an email today about it.

I spoke too soon. I just got an email as well (contents below)…

    “Dear HarperCollins eBook Customer,
