If you follow TeleRead regularly, you may know that aside from recently developed something of an obsession for the new smart watch trend, we’re always fascinated by nearly any product that incorporates the technology of the E Ink Corporation into its design.

Well … remember the Kickstarted e-paper Pebble wrist watch? As promised, the company, Pebble Technology, announced Wednesday that they will begin shipping Pebble watches today, Wednesday, January 23. Although backers should be receiving their Pebbles in the mail shortly, the company has a few cautionary messages to announce. Listed as published on the Pebble blog, they are as follows:

Notes:

♦ Pebble iOS App is not yet available in the App Store. We submitted 2 weeks ago and have been responding to reviewer feedback. For the moment, iOS users who receive Pebble early will be able to do notifications/Music control but will not be able to install watchfaces or upgrade to the latest PebbleOS until the app appears in the App Store.

♦ Android app will go live on Google Play on Thursday Jan 24

♦ We weren’t able to get as many units to our fulfillment centre as we expected (held up by documentation at the airport). Less than 500 units are going out today, with more expected to ship soon.

♦ We accidentally [sent] more Address Confirmation emails than available Pebbles. So some people who received address confirmation emails will not get a tracking number for a few days until their Pebble ships out.

Exceeding their pledge goal of $100,000, with a final total of $10.2 million in May, the smart watch has garnered some intensely loyal fans—some 69,000 backers, to be exact. Pebble Technology has created a customizable smart watch that has ability to run apps, stay connected with social media, check e-mail and basically anything else you wouldn’t expect a watch to do. There’s no wonder so many people want a piece of Pebble.

Currently, those expecting their Pebble watch can track theirs on the company’s www.ispebbleshipping.com webpage. Also, they’re working on publishing the shipping information on account.getpebble.com.
