Kobo has struck a sweet deal with Walmart in Canada.
The Original Kobo, in both colours, is selling for $98 and comes with 4 Harlequin Romances in addition to the usual 100 PD titles. The WiFi Kobo is available for $149 and comes with four mainstream novels including ix Seconds by Rick Mofina, Summer at Willow Lake by Susan Wiggs, Intertwined by Gena Showalter, and The Rake’s Wicked Proposal by Carole Mortimer. The only other brand is the 5″ end-of-line Sony PRS 300 at $124.
At Walmart US, there is pretty deep competition from Sony, Barnes and Noble, etc. Using the online tool, it’s not clear if the device (or most listed) are actually in a local store.
Walmart is sill trying to sell out the old models of Sony’s so they have the 300 and 600 in their stores currently. They also have the Nook at their store. They are selling the Kobo WiFi at $129.
