inateck kindle paperwhite caseIt’s getting to be that time of year when people will be deciding on gifts to give for the holiday. With the Kindle Paperwhite now being marketed as the mid-range offering in Amazon’s eInk reader line up, I’m betting there will be a number of them wrapped in colorful paper soon. However, if you’ve owned such a device in the past, you know that it’s not enough to buy the reader. You also want to protect the reader, and the folks at Inateck recently sent me a case to review. Gotta say, I love it.

The [easyazon-link asin=”B00JP7R7DC” locale=”us”]Inateck Compact Kindle Paperwhite Case[/easyazon-link] is slim and light. The Kindle fits flush with the case, which is my preference. I like my case doing its job but out of the way while I’m reading.

So far the Sleep/Wake function has worked flawlessly. Unlike a previous case I reviewed, there was virtually no odor when I removed it from the packaging. Nearly a week later, even that slight odor has completely vanished.

The cover has a cross-hatched pattern to it, which makes it feel secure and not slippery in the hand. Now, admittedly, what I’m about to say is a personal preference, but one of the reasons I didn’t buy the official Amazon case is because of the patterning in that one. The official case is leather and four times more expensive than the Inateck case. I’m willing to pay more for leather, but I want it to look and feel like leather. The official case looks and feels like plastic to me. A $10 case made of synthetic leather, though? Different story. I don’t mind that it looks synthetic as long as it’s functional, and this case is.

The front cover flips all the way back for easy one-handed reading, and it doesn’t flop around and get in the way. The case comes in five different colors, so you should be able to find something to please almost anyone on your gift list. I like it so much that I handed my previous case to my husband for his brand new Paperwhite, and I’m using this one.

It does everything I want a case to do, and at only $10, it hardly adds anything to the cost of the device. The reviews on Amazon are excellent, so obviously I’m not the only one who thinks this one is a good buy.

The link above is to the case on the US Amazon store. If you’re in another country, here’s the link to the case on the Inateck site.

  1. Thanks for the review, Juli! It sounds like I might want one of these. I have been using the case which my sister had on the Paperwhite when she gave it to me, but it’s a little bulky and the design on it goes on the sides of the Kindle. This one sounds like it will ‘blend in’ better. Can you get me a deal? 🙂
