showcase-scrivener_header.pngI’m not personally familiar with this program, but my ears (or should I say eyes) perked up when I saw a tweet from Liza at Threepress Consulting that said: I did some preliminary test[sic] of its EPUB export & was impressed.

It costs $45 and is for the Mac and bills itself as a content-generation tool that “… allows you to concentrate on composing and structuring long and difficult documents”. You can find it here.

I note that it can export to ePub and to mobi format, as well as a lot of others. If anyone has any experience with it please let us know.

  1. I love this program the way I’m supposed to love other people–it’s a great tool for organizing content for writing-based projects (novel, article, script, etc.). This new version is a huge improvement if you tend to use multiple devices while writing–it can sync with iPad apps like Index Card and PlainText via Dropbox, for example.

The epub and mobi exporting feature is another new addition to this latest version. I tested the mobi tonight and I give it a solid A-. It might not meet your needs if you have highly specific requirements, but it works great if you don’t have the patience or experience to manually fine-tune a mobi conversion. You can add a cover, and let it generate both the HTML and NCX tables of contents. (In my test tonight, I wasn’t able to customize the TOCs to my liking, although that doesn’t prove it’s not possible.) Please note that for mobi export to work, you have to have downloaded KindleGen separately so Scrivener can use it to perform the conversion.
