ScrollMotion, creators of the Iceberg Reader and a leading developer of electronic book applications, today announced a partnership with global education leader Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) to develop its Holt McDougal Algebra 1 application for the iPad. Launched in September as part of HMH Fuse™, a new mode of curriculum delivery, the Algebra 1 iPad application is currently being used in a pilot program for eighth grade classrooms throughout California. The pilot will compare the performance of students using traditional text books with those using the application.

“Through HMH Fuse and this app, we are introducing a new kind of curriculum development, where content is delivered in a variety of ways so students and teachers can individualize the learning experience”

Promising an entirely new educational experience that brings learning to life for students by moving beyond the one-way experience of a print or digital textbook, the new HMH Fuse: Algebra 1 app offers touch-screen access to a complete curriculum in students’ preferred medium. Linked, point-of-use graphing tools, tips and hints; animated step-by-step examples and solutions; and a dual-format note-taking feature immerse and engage students in every stage of instruction. Tutorial videos, vocabulary support with links to written and audio definitions, and automatic individualized quiz and assessment grading provide innovative, on-demand assistance to supplement classroom instruction.

A video demo of the new application is available here.
