CNet reports on an OLED prototype display that is stretchable by up to 45% of its length. It’s just a proof of concept, a simple light-emitting panel rather than a changeable display screen, but it shows promise in that it proves all the elements that go into such a display would work.
Given further development, this could lead to the holy grail of bendable, foldable, or rollable display screens that could make for less fragile, more portable tablet and e-reader devices.
This is exciting. We’ve had rollable keyboards for quite a while: it will be great when the whole device can be rolled up for protection, especially large screens.
