images.jpegAdvertising Age is reporting on a new survey by MediaVest, a large media-buying and media-planning agency. According to the survey the most used tasks are internet access, email and listening to music.

Magazine reading comes in really low, falling below all other tasks that the survey asked about including: book reading, maps, photo viewing, calendaring, video watching, radio listening and newspaper apps. As to iPad owners as a whole:

People in the market for an iPad aren’t all consumer technophiles: 45% own four or more other devices such as a DVR, an HDTV, a smartphone or an MP3 player, but another 40% own just two or three and 15% own one or none. “It starts to indicate to us what the potential market is for these devices,” Mr. Shiffman said.

  1. I don’t think a lot of people really know about magazine apps…. I have Zinio on my iPad, and subscribe to Chicago Magazine, National Geographic and Dwell… it is a great reading experience, there is no clutter from having the paper issues, and my husband and I can share the issues on both our iPads.
