TeleRead's surprising StoryBundle connection

We’ve written briefly in the past about the still-relatively-new StoryBundle service; both Paul Biba and Chris Meadows covered the service this past February, prior to its official launch.

For those of you not familiar with StoryBundle, the concept is simple: The company offers a “bundle” of seven DRM-free e-books, all written by independent authors, at a “pay what you wish” price point. Deals that honest don’t tend to come around every day.

What’s more, the StoryBundle team clearly understands the specific whims of its audience; one of the many joys of e-book reading, after all, involves the process of discovering lesser-known authors and titles at low, impulse-purchase prices.

Coincidentally, our own Joanna Cabot mentioned StoryBundle’s first offering, the Big Bang Bundle, in a News Roundup earlier this month. What we didn’t know at the time, though, was that one of the Big Bang Bundle’s seven titles, Undersea by Geoffrey Morrison (he’s the charismatic-looking fellow in the photo on the right), was actually edited by a fellow member of the Technology Tell family, Home Tech Tell editor Dennis Burger.

I haven’t yet had the the chance to read Undersea, so I’m afraid I can’t say much about the book itself. And yet, any of you who may be familiar with Geoffrey Morrison’s work—or for that matter, the work of fellow StoryBundle-affiliated authors Michael Kayatta or Joseph Nassise—might very well be interested in checking out the author chat those three writers participated in last Friday; it’s available here on StoryBundle’s site.

Note: Dennis tells us the same three authors may be doing some sort of Reddit chat today (an ‘Ask Me Anything’ session, perhaps?), but he’s thin on details at the moment. We’ll be sure to update this space when and if we’re supplied us with further details. 

UPDATE: Here’s the link to the Reddit AMA session hosted by StoryBundle’s first five authors. I’ve only skimmed it, but it looks like some solid advice was passed around.
