Tolino Media is giving indie authors another way to distribute books in Germany, according to Publishing Perspectives.

Publishing Perspectives says that Tolino has already attracted a few notable German self-published authors including Elke Bergsma, Nika Lubitsch and Alfred Bekker.

The terms of the deal could be a reason why some indie authors may choose Tolino over Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing. Tolino offers 70 percent royalties.

The books will also be distributed through all of Tolino’s partners, more than 1,000 online bookshops. But it is not limited to just Germany. Tolino has partnerships in Austria, Belgium, Switzerland and other countries.

While there are other and smaller options for self-publishing in Germany not named KDP, Tolino offers the best competition for those looking elsewhere. With its generous commission and ability to distribute in several countries, Tolino gives options to writers.

  1. When you put your heart and soul into a self-publishing project, it’s important to explore all of your options. It’s easy to get excited and jump at working with the first company that shows a willingness to take on your project, but you have to make sure that it’s the right fit. Having options is a really good thing!
