binatone-readme-classicThose of you in the UK can find a great bargain on an e-ink e-reader. Normally listed at £139 (currently $225.64), the Binatone ReadMe Classic is on sale for £29.99 ($48.69) at UK electronics chain Makro. That’s the cheapest any e-ink e-book reader has been that I can think of, especially in the UK where things tend to cost more than in the US.

This 6″ e-reader from Binatone has 2GB Flash storage, a SD card slot, speakers, and comes with a case and headphones. Ebook support includes TXT, PDF, HTML, CHM, RTF, FB2, EPUB, TCR, Palm Doc, Open E-book, Open reader, MOBI.

  1. I don’t want to be unfair to the product, I don’t have any intention of buying it. But what I would say is … this may be a crap reader … but all the things we have been saying for the past 6 months about the coming price of eReaders is now coming true … When people can buy a decent eReader for this kind of price, eReading is going to really soar !

  2. Makro isn’t an electronics chain, they are a “Cash and Carry” wholesaler that sell a vast variety of different products.

Also you can’t just walk into one and buy something from them, you have to be registered with them as someone who is authorised to purchase on behalf of a business. The general public can’t shop there. So unless you know someone who has a Makro card, you will never be able to buy this ereader.
