Now here’s a change–an upbeat article in the mainstream press on e-books. “Electronic books, which so far have been a boon mostly to ophthalmologists and other ministers to the weary eyed, have improved to become useful tools for some travelers,” writes Bob Tedeschi in the New York Times of May 5. Among their advantages? Less weight. That of course brings to mind a California official’s proposal to regulate the weight of paper textbooks because of their strain on young backs.
