Andy Carvin of the Digital Digital Network made a video of his tour of the $100 MIT laptop–a demo given him personally by Mary Lou Jepsen, the laptop project’s CTO. Imagine the implications for e-books, given the innovative use of LCD tech. The 7-inch diagonal color screen will cost manufacturers all of $35. MIT’s gizmo even has a low-power mode for reading books.
Pity about the sound quality, I could not understand half of it. What I did hear sounded very interesting though.
Yes, Branko, I had problems, too. Still, this was a pretty meaty video, and even hearing just part of it was extremely revealing. It’s clear that the project is no fantasy.
