This report is a snap-shot of the views of librarians of the use of Web 2.0 in libraries in Wales

From the Executive Summary:

This report into access to and use of various Web 2.0 applications in libraries in Wales has found some commonalities across the library sectors, as well as differences. Staff in many library institutions are prevented from accessing interactive websites such as blogs, and users (students and the public) may also be blocked from accessing them as well, for various reasons. University libraries appear to be the exception to both these instances and are able to experiment with and use these technologies more freely.

The survey found enthusiasm among library staff for engaging with Web 2.0 in libraries and plenty of examples of what libraries in Wales are already doing. The original aims of the survey (see below) were linked primarily to marketing but it is hoped that the report will be useful for library staff at all levels, including heads of service, and can be used to support cases for lifting restrictions to the interactive Internet so that librarians in Wales can engage with their users in different ways, and keep library services moving forward.
