Tumblr has millions of active users, creating 90 million new posts a day.

There are informative sites, funny sites and reflective sites. Throughout the years, some of Tumblr’s sites have become so popular some have even gotten book deals – well, 70, to be exact. Tumblr CEO David Karp revealed that number at the paidContent Live event earlier this month.

“What’s even more interesting to me than people going through traditional paths are people who are using those new emerging platforms,” he said. “What’s so exciting to me about Tumblr as a media network today is this new generation of creative commercialization tools that are being built on top of these other networks. People who don’t have to go to Harpers to publish the book deal, they can self-publish on Kickstarter instead.”

While the percentage of those who have gotten book deals is small based on the amount of blogs out there, what exactly does it take to get noticed?

Here are some Tumblr pages that have books. You’re not going to find much literary fiction going on here … no, most of the blogs are filled with goofy pictures, fake text messages and puppies.

Text From Dog

One of the most recent Tumblr sites to turn into a book is Text From Dog, which publishes fake text messages from a dog and its owner. Headline published the book on Nov. 12, 2012.

Feminist Ryan Gosling

The book form of the Feminist Ryan Gosling Tumblr came out Aug. 14, 2012. According to the book description, it started as a way for author Danielle Henderson and her classmates to track feminist theories. They put feminist theories, sweet talk and Gosling photos together on what became a wildly popular site.

The site was featured in dozens of newspapers and magazines including The Guardian, Marie Claire and Mother Jones.

Suri’s Burn Book

If Suri Cruise had a blog, this is what it would be like. The author, Allie Hagan, pokes fun at other celebrity children, celebs who are pregnant, and touches on all types of topics.

Hipster Puppies

Yep, puppies dressed as hipsters. This book came out July 5, 2011.

Stuff Hipsters Hate

It seems hipsters are also a popular topic for Tumblr blogs turning into books. In this case, Brenna Ehrlich and Andrea Bartz put together a site that found its way onto bookshelves Sept. 1, 2010.
