feature-accessories._V325436015_Will the next Kindle Voyage appear in November and offer a zippier chip for nicer page-changing and other amenities? I find the rumor to be plausible, at least.

Now here’s some fun speculation, if you want to call it that, out of China.

The next Voyage is supposed to work with an optional solar-powered case. Also, the bezel is supposed to be much smaller. A MobileReader has tried make sense of the Chinese, with help from Google Translate:

“Undisclosed Kindle By Amazon, revolutionary exterior, the same screen as previous gen kindle but reduced the frame to 60%( similar to that Nano5 to Nano6 ), unsymmetric design, wedge-shaped panel, fitted with the official rechargeable adsorption case. there’s a option for the case, rechargeable and solar powered, the material feels like the cardboard, full of technological sense.”

Over on the KindleKorner list, Barry Marks has his own take on this (list membership needed, via Yahoo), suggesting that small could mean easier to hold while reading. In a related post, he thinks the screen itself could be of the same size.

Barry is wondering, too, if the options via the case could also include wireless charging.

Any Chinese-reading TeleReaders care to enlighten us with a better translation?

Reminder: Tech is a forward-looking business, and that’s why we’ll share plausible rumors, identified as such, rather than waiting for official announcements. Use rumors as a starting point for speculation, nothing more.

About the image: Current Voyage shown above with a current case. And meanwhile here’s a TeleRead Buying Link to an existing solar panel for the Voyage, from a third party. In fact, there’s a whole bunch of unofficial solar-power sources for the Kindle Voyage and presumably other readers—scroll down. Anyone have experience with any solar-power sources for Kindles? A special case for the Voyage, of course, would be nice.

  1. The Amazon link you have mentioned is a solar power bank, for a moment I thought that it was a solar-powered case for Kindle out on the market. I am sure that the future is in solar and renewable energy. What more can we “power consuming monsters” do on the D-day when the oil and water dries up 🙂

  2. @Mark: Many thanks. In the post I asked for a human to check up on the Google translation, and I really appreciated your following up in your own way. Of course, the headline to start with was a question rather than a statement. Let’s hope that the answer in the very near future is, “Yes.” Perhaps it’ll happen not just because of advances in solar and battery tech but also because chip power requirements are dropping.
