We previously published an article about U of C’s displeasure with the Nature Publishing Group’s price increase.
Here is some further info for those who are following the issue. From the University of California Digital Library:
The Nature Publishing Group has issued a response to a letter to UC faculty describing inflated price increases for the Nature Publishing Group’s (NPG) 67 journals (including Nature) that UC licenses. CDL Executive Director Laine Farley; Richard Schneider, Associate Professor, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery UCSF, and Chair, University Committee on Library and Scholarly Communication; and Brian Schottlaender, University Librarian, UC San Diego have issued a detailed rebuttal to NPG’s response. The issue is generating much discussion among faculty and librarians in the press and blogosphere.
