That Good E-Reader 13” e-ink Android tablet campaign has officially completed. It’s raised more than three times its original funding goal, and seems to be reaching people who hadn’t even heard of it before. In light of that, Michael Kozlowski has extended the campaign via InDemand, a system for continuing to take orders after completion. In his video announcing the extension, Kozlowski says the first wave of tablets will ship within several months (the campaign page lists an estimate of September) with a second wave to follow soon afterward.
In another video on the site, Kozlowski puts the device through some of its paces, and it does seem fairly impressive. But it does still have yet to ship, and hardware crowdfunding campaigns are notoriously iffy. I will be very interested to see what the earliest backers think of the tablet when they finally get it.
