GuinnessBook 002 Spotted the press release for this on The Literary Platform. The Guinness Book of World Records as come out with a free “lite” app for the iPad. A “full-featured” version, which will presumably cost money, should be out later this year—but the free version is featureful enough for me.

GuinnessBook 001 The application is divided into a number of screens (like the one at left) covering categories like “Strangest,” “Fastest,” “Craziest,” and so on. Then within that screen are several subcategories to examine, each of which will have one or more listings, and associated photos and even videos. (The videos of the crazy Jack Russell terrier popping 100 balloons in less than a minute, and the contortionist popping balloons with her back, are especially impressive.)

It’s fun to play with, it looks great on the iPad screen, and it’s free. What more could you want in a Guinness Book?
