Awhile ago, GoodeReader posted a great little write-up showing the evolution of the Kindle—in pictures, and with capsule reviews and commentary. It showed how the Kindle went from big-ish and clunky, with a built-in keyboard, to small and sleek and button-free.
Now, they are back, giving the Kobo Reader the same treatment. The Kobo’s evolution has been less dramatic—the shape and style has stayed pretty consistent over the past few years. But the Kobo too has gone button-free, acquired a front light and shrunk in size and weight a little.
These are fun little galleries to browse. Enjoy!
As someone who has owned 5 Kindles (or 6, if you count the Fire as a Kindle, which I don’t really), I enjoyed the Kindle retrospective! I still have the box my Kindle 1 came in, but that Kindle itself is somewhere in Mexico. The Kindle 2 went to a friend, but my husband and I between us have the others. I never owned a DX or the bare-bones Kindle 4, and I never owned a wifi-only model except for the Fire. I absolutely love my Paperwhite (1st gen) and if and when it dies on my, I will get my 6th (or 7th, depending on how you count) Kindle.
thanks for the shoutout Joe
