smashwordsGood news for both authors and readers: the Smashwords Summer/Winter Sale starts now! From the author enrollment page:

“Here in the Northern hemisphere, it’s mid-summer.  Readers everywhere are loading up their e-reading devices for summer beach reading and vacations. But what about the good people South of the equator, who are now in the middle of winter? They deserve to curl up in front of the fireplace and enjoy a good read too! That’s the story behind our Summer/Winter promotion…”

Readers can scope out the deals via the banner on the Smashwords homepage. There are both free and discounted books in multiple genres.

Remember that Smashwords is not just for self-publishing newbies! Many authors are reprinting their backlists there. I have bought eBooks myself fromt wo publishers on Smashwords who seem to specialize in this and can recommend Bev Editions (Morley Torgov, Howard Engel and others) and Crossroads Press (William Bayer, Ed Gorman and others) as starting points if you want to browse quality stuff.

Happy shopping!

"I’m a journalist, a teacher and an e-book fiend. I work as a French teacher at a K-3 private school. I use drama, music, puppets, props and all manner of tech in my job, and I love it. I enjoy moving between all the classes and having a relationship with each child in the school. Kids are hilarious, and I enjoy watching them grow and learn. My current device of choice for reading is my Amazon Kindle Touch, but I have owned or used devices by Sony, Kobo, Aluratek and others. I also read on my tablet devices using the Kindle app, and I enjoy synching between them, so that I’m always up to date no matter where I am or what I have with me."
