Kindle for KidsAmazon has launched yet another Kindle promotion very similar to the previous promotions. Once again, the basic Kindle is being discounted from $79.99 to $59.99. The Kindle Paperwhite is being knocked down from $119.99 to $99.99. The Kindle for kids bundle, meanwhile, which normally features a Kindle without ad support plus cover and warranty for $139.97, is down to $79.99.

This offer reportedly runs through November 11th, so now would be a good time to pick up on it. But coming in the run-up to Black Friday, it does make you wonder what kind of sales impact Amazon is seeing on its older black-and-white Kindles post the advent of the $50 Kindle Fire. Are these offers going to come more and more often as Amazon repositions its Kindle offerings alongside the new Kindle Fire? Is Amazon trying to clear out inventory before Thanksgiving and Christmas in order to drive consumers towards the new Fire? Remember, the Fire is multimedia-capable, which would increase content sales at Amazon.

I just can’t believe that it will be all business as usual for Kindle post the new Fire’s debut. And if this isn’t the first sign of an impact on Amazon’s e-reader sales strategy, then I’ll be waiting eagerly for whatever is. Meantime, if you want a cheap Kindle, don’t hesitate – only, do consider the value-for-money appeal of the new Fire instead.
