The Telegraph, amongst other sources, is reporting the sad news that author Terry Pratchett has passed away at the age of 66. Pratchett, author of the sci-fi cult series Discword, was battling Alzheimer’s disease for the past few years. From the write-up:
“His publishers have paid tribute to the author, who called his disease ‘an embuggerance,’ saying his legacy will endure in years to come.”
If you are interested in exploring Pratchett’s work, this reading guide offers many paths into the rambling Discworld universe. I have not read the whole series, but have read ‘Mort’ and a handful of others. I enjoyed them.
Not much to say other than condolences to his family. I hope the slew of tributes pouring in—Pratchett seemed like a decent guy—will be a consolation.
I Shall Wear Midnight as my Aching heart is heavy with the loss of the wonderful and brave Terry Pratchett. Only a handful of authors can make me laugh out loud and embarrass myself in the corner of a coffee shop and he was most likely the best. May the Discworld elephants carry you to the stars, Terry. God bless. x x x
