This app is now available for free until July 31 at the App Store. According to the blurb it provides access to news, video, comment and analysis.
After July 31 it will require paid access which, according to Mediabistro, will be $5.75/week. The article says that this will give you online access and access through a variety of phones as well.
I subscribed to the FT for years and it is a fantastic paper. It’s hard to choose between it and The Guardian as the best newspaper in the world. I’m going to download the app now.

I subscribe to both the Financial Times and the New York Times (daily paper versions) and have for many years.
The FT isn’t remotely close to the NYT.
I can’t speak about the Guardian.
