Google has just issued the latest update to its Android Developer Dashboards, detailing “data collected during a 7-day period ending on December 1, 2014.” And as the pie chart makes clear, the latest OS iteration, Android 5.0 Lollipop, hasn’t cracked the 0.1 percent threshold of users needed for inclusion in the Dashboards, despite all the hoopla surrounding its release.

The immediately prior release of the OS, Android 4.4 KitKat, is now past the one third of the Android user base, at just under 34 percent of all users. The various versions of 4.x Jelly Bean are just under 50 percent, a slight reduction from last month’s 50.8 percent mostly attributable to the growing penetration of KitKat, while the 2.x versions Froyo and Gingerbread now together make up only 9.6 percent of users.

Android fans are already publicizing the update release schedule for Lollipop, while enthusiasts for independent Android mods such as Cyanogenmod track the bulletin boards waiting for implementations of the new Lollipop features into their favorite mods. It still surprises me, though, to see now Lollipop numbers in this edition yet. However, those users who are reporting problems and issues with the Lollipop upgrades that have come down the pipe would say this is no bad thing.
