“FogScreen utilizes a water vapor technology to project a display field that floats in the air.” – Information Today.
This article by Terence K. Huwe is a must-read discussion of future technology in several areas.
Details from FogScreen: “…allows projection of high quality images in the air…With our new interactive add-on you can also use the air as your user interface. Operate computers by touching only the air with your bare hand. Write and draw in the air – this is science fiction, available today.” Who knows, maybe this technology can help traditional libraries better compete with home-based use of digital libraries–just so they don’t overdo it and go the Disneyland route. Libraries need the right balance between information and entertainment.
