Martin Sorrell, a global advertising tycoon in the U.K., wants to see fewer newspapers and magazines. Could the ad biz actually be more of a threat to daily newspaepers than the evil Internets? Or at least aggravate existing trends? I have a few thoughts on that at SolomonScandals.com.

So, Sorrell wants advertisers to control the media… in the Internet age. Good luck to him. I think we all know that ship has sailed.
I suspect the number of “pro” magazines and newspapers will dwindle, through no effort on advertisers’ part. But the fewer ad-based pro magazines we end up with, the more consumer-run special-interest online mags we’ll get.
