Ever wanted to use Android apps on your desktop? Here’s another way. TechCrunch reports on the beta release of a Chrome extension called Vysor that will let you mirror your Android phone or tablet display to your PC. First announced in a Reddit thread, the app now has its own web site, as well as a listing on the Chrome store.
The app requires the use of a USB cable to hook your phone to your PC, and it does duplicate functionality found in some newer Samsung phones, but it makes it available to a much wider variety of models. TechCrunch notes it could be useful for Android app developers who might otherwise have to use an emulator. I would suggest it might also be useful for e-book creators who would like to be able to see what their book looks like on an Android screen.
Plus, there’s always playing your favorite Android games…
