image While big publishers are warring against e-books, Nielsen is shutting down two citadels of pulpdom—Editor and Publisher and Kirkus Reviews. The scary thing is that E&P has done some good things and has carried e-savvy writers such as Steve Outing. Perhaps, however, E&P didn’t embrace the future fast enough.

As for Kirkus, the closing could help Publishers Weekly in the short term, but its ultimate fate is far from clear. According to Wikipedia, Kirkus Reviews was founded in 1933 and reviewed about 4.500 titles per year.
