Ereader000179.jpgWe don’t hear much about Nokia phones here in the US as Nokia is just a fringe player in the market. In the worldwide market, however, Nokia, with its Symbian operating system, is the world leader in phones. Thus it’s nice to see recognized software, like eReader, finally catching up to Nokia.

Ewan Spence of All About Symbian has a review of the latest 4.0 version of eReader for Symbian. Here’s the result of the review. You an read the full text here.

While eReader has some flaws, none of them are show stoppers; and the service behind the application makes the eReader system one I would recommend to those starting out on eBooks. I’d like to see some improvements in the next version of the application, but as it stands this is a stable eBook reader with enough customisation that should let most readers sort out a comfortable reading experience.

  1. It’s a shame this update is for S60 5th edition only. I just got myself a Nokia E63 which has a hardware QWERTY keyboard rather than a touchscreen and consequently runs S60 3rd edition, for which only eReader version 3 is available. Also I’ve not had any luck finding other eBook reading apps for S60 3rd edition either.
