ActuaLitté has the details—which you can also read in Google translation. I’d welcome a better translation or summary from Hadrien or one of other other French members of the TeleRead community, so we can pick up the nuances.
Will there be a protracted anti-trust battle ahead in France between Virgin and the others? And ramifications for Amazon here in the States, which loves exclusivity and an integrated approach?
Thank you, guy, it’s a really big deal, this thing.
And… Our name is ActuaLitté :-p
But it’s ok 😉
Fixed, Nicolas—thanks for the catch. I remain interested in a good nuanced translation so people can understand the important issue involved, and how they might apply or not apply elsewhere, including the States.
Thanks,
David
France (and much of the EU) suffers from many restrictive anti-free market regulations.
Fortunately, here in the US we don’t have quite so many marketplace encumbrances. I don’t see Amazon being concerned – at least regarding its operations in the US.
If/when Amazon releases the Kindle in Europe they may well run into the same sort of trouble over there.
