Peter Brantley PortraitPeter Brantley, representing the University of California Press, has won the runoff race for the remaining open seat on the IDPF Board of Directors. Congratulations, Peter!

Peter brings a unique perspective to the IDPF Board, not only representing an academic publisher, but representing the entire research community studying the future of the book in the digital age. For example, Peter organized the Reading 2.0 Conference held last March in San Francisco, which tackled the issue of the future of reading in the digital era.

If ebooks are to flourish in the future, they must take advantage of the unique characteristics and advantages of digital representations of books and digital publications. E-books should not simply be staid clones of powdered carbon on pulped dead trees. This is one of the important perspectives that Peter will bring to the IDPF Board.
