“It seems incredible that a publisher needs to charge over $75 per single copy to recoup costs and make enough profit to stay in business.” – Birdie in LISNews.
The TeleRead take: Just a minute or two before I saw Birdie’s post, I ran across a news release from Visibooks, which promises to license PDF-format textbooks for as little as $4.95 each. Current titles are on computer-related topics. Nope, I don’t like PDF, but I applaud the low-cost model and the use of a highly visual approach to textbooks for learning computer skills.
